Pattaya is little over 100km from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport and a relatively quick one and a half hour bus journey. If you going to take the bus to Pattaya this is how to do it:
1. Make you way down to level/floor one of the airport. This is also the floor where the metered taxis depart from and the floor directly below the arrivals floor. This floor is split into two sections linked by a 20 meter connecting walkway so if you do not see the Pattaya ticket desk you will probably on the wrong side and will need to make your way through to the other side.
2. Look out for the ticket desk. it is situated between exit Number 7 and 8. No pre-booking is necessary but tickets are sold on a first come first served basis, quite often you the next departing bus is full so you will have to buy a ticket for the following hour. a wait of up to 2 hours is not uncommon.
3. Once your ticket is bought you will be instructed to wait in the waiting area in front of the ticket booth but feel free to grab a coffee or a bite to eat if you have some time to kill before your bus departure time.
4. Make sure you are in the waiting area at least 10 minutes before the departure time, Staff will instruct you to board the bus when it shows up outside the building.
5.The bus usually makes 4 stops on arriving in Pattaya its final destination and 4th stop is on Thapphraya Road Jomtien but also makes stops at North Pattaya (1st stop), Central Pattaya (2nd stop) and South Pattaya (3rd stop). The stops are made on the busy Sukhumwit Road which is some way from the beach and hotel zones and will definitely be too long of a walk. You will nearly always find songteaw taxis or motorbike taxis waiting for the bus arrivals and you will have to negotiate a price to your hotel.
A few more facts:
